Carrot is an herbaceous plant originally native to Asia. Prized for the culinary qualities of its roots, it has been acclimatized to all temperate zones around the world. The essential oil is contained in carrot seeds. France is one of the largest producers of carrot seeds for reproduction. Major seed production sites located primarily in the southern and western parts of the country.
