Maritimus Pine needles
Pinus pinaster, the maritime pine native to the Landes region of France, grows along Europe's Atlantic coast from Brittany all the way to Portugal.
In southwestern France, between Bordeaux and the Spanish border, a man-made pine forest called Forêt des Landes was planted in the mid-19th century and now covers a million hectares.
Biolandes was originally founded in 1980 as a supplier of Essential oil of Pine, which remains an emblematic product for the company. It is obtained by the distillation of young stems thinned from the forest or branches recovered after timber cutting. The stems are ground and the wood and needles are distilled using a continuous process developed by Biolandes.
Our workshop can produce 20 to 30 tons of essential oil of Pine per year. All of the distillation residues are recycled as organic soil improvers by Biolandes Pin Décor.
