The lemon tree, Citrus limon L, is a species of shrub with evergreen leaves belonging the Rutaceae family. Native to South Asia, it is now cultivated in the Mediterranean Basin and in subtropical regions for its well-known fruit, the lemon. Its characteristic aroma and flavor have many applications, including in cuisine, perfumery and aromatherapy, as well as in beverages and cleaning products.
