Biolandes Andalusia

START DATE: 1988

GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION: PUEBLA DE GUZMAN, ANDALUSIA, SPAIN

Our Andalusian factory is located in the Andévalo region, in the heart of a natural site spanning several thousand hectares. At the junction between Seville and Portugal, the area has a warm, dry climate conducive to the growth of wild cistus.

GATHERING AND PRODUCTION

Our installations comprise stills and extractors operating in a continuous system with which we produce all types of extracts derived from cistus. Our factory is equipped with a biomass boiler fueled with cistus residues. We also have a fully automated production facility for the production and processing of labdanum gum under optimal environmental conditions.

Every day, we tend more than 2,000 hectares (nearly 3,000 acres) of virgin land in the area surrounding our production site, a natural habitat for Cistus ladanifer. By providing regular, controlled maintenance of these harvest zones, we help reduce the risk of wildfires linked to the proliferation of plant life. Our cistus is NOP and Ecocert certified organic.

Some 20 permanent employees work at the site on a daily basis. During the harvest periods, they are joined by an additional four dozen seasonal workers.
