This is the first BIOLANDES facility built outside of France. The factory is located in Puebla de Guzman, in the middle of the vast fields of Cistus Labdanum of Andevalo, in the Huelva province near the Portuguese border. It employs twenty permanent staff.
Cistus Labdanum
is a wild shrub which covers the non cultivated hillsides of this region. With summer heat, the plant secretes an odorous gum which gives the cistus its unique amber scent.
Cistus is collected from July till October and employs dozens of local harvesters. The crude Labdanum gum is traditionally produced in the fields with a basic extraction process carried out by local communities.
